Grimbergen — is a Belgian abbatial beer brewed in the active Abbey with the permission of the monks. First this beer was brewed in 1128 in the St. Norbert Monastery in Grimbergen town (Belgium). During its centuries-long history the Abbey of Grimbergen was completely burned out and then restored for many times. That's why on the beer label the bird Phoenix and a slogan “Ardet nec consumitur” — “Burned but not destroyed” appeared. Later the image of this bird appeared on the brand glasses. All brands of Grimbergen beer are still brewed according to the original recipes of the Abbey.
