Carlsberg Group issues 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Carlsberg Group published the online corporate social responsibility (CSR) report on its website. It should be noted that in 2012 Carlsberg Group became the most water-efficient company among other world's largest beer producers. Moreover, the Group was able to significantly reduce the use of other natural resources. Read the full report here.

The CSR report, which is being issued by Carlsberg Group for 4 years now, traditionally consolidates information on the progress made in the key CSR areas. Besides, the online document presents CSR goals of Carlsberg Group for 2013. The report is based on data provided by the Group companies in different countries worldwide, including Carlsberg Ukraine.

It should be noted that during 2012, as part of the various CSR projects, the company achieved good results in environmental protection and natural resource management. In 2012 Carlsberg Group managed to follow up a 2011 water consumption results — 3.3 hl of water required to produce 1 hl of beer, which is the best figure among the beer producers worldwide. Furthermore, the Group breweries continue to reduce energy (up to 29.1 kWh/hl) and natural gas consumption. Currently, 13 Carlsberg Group companies, including Carlsberg Ukraine, use sludge digestion gas.

The report also shows figures of responsible consumption project during UEFA EURO 2012™. According to Carlsberg Group, over 6.6 million fans attending Carlsberg fan parks got the message about the importance of responsible alcohol consumption through Carlsberg's CSR activities.

Carlsberg Group has integrated 8 key CSR areas into its activities: “Environment”, “Responsible drinking”, “Community engagement”, “Marketing communications”, “Labour and human rights”, “Health & safety”, “Business ethics”, and “Responsible sourcing”. It should be mentioned that the annual CSR report of Carlsberg Group is prepared according to the principles of the UN Global Compact and the indices of the Global Reporting Initiative GRI.
