Corporate social responsibility

Successful, stable, and profitable - these are the distinctive features that should be inherent in modern business. And among other things, business should be dynamic. Do you remember the words from L. Carroll's book about Alice, "it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast!'

This phrase can fully be applied to today's business realities, however with a small addition - now it is important not only to run (read "grow") but to do it with all responsibility, thinking about how your decisions and actions will affect the society, environment, and, finally, your future. One of the strategic principles of our company is "The battle is won by the quick rather than by the big!" Indeed, Carlsberg Ukraine strives to grow quickly, efficiently and... responsibly.

Our approach to Corporate social responsibility sounds like Growth responsibly which is an integral part of the company's strategy and it is tightly integrated into its activity.
I would notice that in addition to our own social projects, we support the most effective public initiatives. For example, in 2010, Carlsberg Ukraine joined the UN Global Compact, thereby declaring their commitment to 10 principles in the field of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption drive. And in 2011, Yuri Bykoriz, Executive Vice-President at our company, became a co-chairman of the American Chamber CSR Committee in Ukraine.

The long-term success of our company is caused in many respects by the corporate principles. One of the social areas of Carlsberg Ukraine is concern for the society. The company is aware of its impact on the communities in which it operates, and undertakes the obligation to make a positive contribution to their development.
Responsible and moderate consumption of beer by adult people of full legal age is the position, reflected in our marketing communications. We oppose the sale of beer to the minors and we clearly hand down this important idea to our partners who sell beer.

As a manufacturer, Carlsberg Ukraine pays great attention to the protection of environment that is why we prefer "green" technologies. So, for many years, the company uses recyclable glass bottles. For example, in 2010, 400 million bottles were reused. One of the latest environmental initiatives of the company is the construction of waste water treatment facilities, which made it possible to cut down the consumption of natural gas by 12% - 15% and significantly reduce CO2 emissions into the environment.

The initiative in the sphere of supply management is another important direction in our business practice. We initiated the creation of the internal Supplier Code of Conduct, which provides a number of obligatory requirements for the company's partners. The contents of the Code fully reflect the principles of social responsibility and business standards of Carlsberg Ukraine.

At Carlsberg, we aspire to become better every day. We move forward. We grow up. But it is important that we grow responsibly.
